ACME Conference 2009
The Future of Mathematics in Schools and Colleges- A policy perspective
On the 3 March 2009 the ACME annual conference was held at the Royal Society in London. The conference, entitled The Future of Mathematics in Schools and Colleges- a policy perspective, attracted more than 150 delegates, including over 70 practitioners, and generated key messages for policy makers.
Delegates shared their thinking on mathematics education policy over the next five years, against the background of the Williams and Rose Reviews, commissioned by the Government on early years and primary maths education and the primary curriculum, and the development of new 14-19 diplomas. Discussion focused on the key current and future issues surrounding primary mathematics, level 3 mathematics and GCSE mathematics.
The speech from Dame Julia Higgins FRS, Chair of ACME, is now available along with the Power Point presentations of the speakers.
Thank you to all who contributed to this event.
