Functional Mathematics

EquerresOn 18 October 2006, ACME held a closed workshop on functional mathematics and specialised diplomas to explore the status of functional mathematics and the development of the new diplomas. The outcomes of this workshop informed the agenda for the conference on the Mathematical Needs of 14-19 Pathways in February 2007, when practitioners joined policy makers to explore the delivery of functional mathematics and diplomas in schools and colleges. In June 2007, ACME issued a position statement on functional mathematics detailing concerns that ought to be addressed to ensure appropriate teaching and assessment of functional mathematics.
